Thank you so much for answering my questions so well! Since I sent you the questions, I have since captured and taken home the little stray kitten at my work. Over the course of about a week, we have managed to tame the kitten, although he is still shy and runs when you walk toward him. I am in the process of collecting money from co-workers to spay the mother cat. I hope, however, that our furniture can survive yet another cat. Thanks again for your advice!

Very useful information - am only sorry there are no "back issues" of the Monthly Topic. I help run a shelter in Israel, and indeed many of its tenants were abandoned because the owners didn't know how to co-exist with them. I wrote to you a week or so ago about my 15-year old cat Chaz who had disappeared. First, I wanted to thank you for your supportive words and professional advice.
Good news! I found him after 4 days. Putting the word out was the magic trick. After an extensive search near our home, I stuck my head near the opening of the storm drain and called his name. I was so happy to hear him call back to me. I recognized his meow right away! It took him over an hour to get up the courage to come out to me, but he did. He is alive and he is home. He seems to be in good shape, so I guess you hit the nail on the head that it is Spring and he was probably just out for adventure. Thank you again.

Would like to thank you on your support in my recent crisis with my dog, Bear. It's a shame that we had to get rid of a beloved pet because, it appears, a sedative affected him.
We'll recover from the dog bites, but it'll be a long time before we do so from having loved a dog that, until then, was friend to us and the kids in the neighborhood. I have his pictures, and I don't intend on throwing them away. I don't blame the dog for the attack, but I couldn't take him back because we became afraid it would happened again under ordinary circumstances.
